CWJ-Short Fiction Winners

The Short Fiction Contest will continue to provide a venue for mainstream short fiction writing. Moving to a revised publishing schedule, the Canadian Writer's Journal the new contest deadline April 30th annually

Entries are numbered upon arrival, and the identities of the authors are unknown until the judging decisions have been made. Then, and only then, are the authors names matched back to their works.

All place winners and Honourable Mentions receive the new annual Canadian Writer's Journal . In addition to appearing in the regular issue of the Canadian Writer's Journal, the winning fiction pieces from each contest are collected into a perfect-bound book entitled Choice Works which is available separately. More details will be posted as they are available.

WINNERS FROM THE APRIL 30, 2011 Deadline

This round of winners painstakingly chosen from the 60 entries received is:

  • FIRST PRIZE ($150), publication and receipt of the 2011 CWJ as well as publication in Choice Works 17 to Judy Glen of Burlington ON for the story Goldilocks

  • SECOND PRIZE ($100), publication and receipt of the 2011 CWJ as well as publication in Choice Works 17 to Jeanette C. Montgomery of Saskatoon SK for her story Don't Forget the Cat Food

  • THIRD PRIZE ($50), publication and receipt of the 2011 CWJ as well as publication in Choice Works 17 to Rachel (Rae) Ceceile Costain of Calgary AB for her story To My Niece I Shall Never Know

    HONOURABLE MENTIONS:
